Am I on my cell phone so often because I'm bored (or vice versa)?

Coming home from school or work, plopping down on the couch and starting to scroll. Or reach for your cell phone during a long board game. When boredom strikes, the smartphone is never far away. But not every type of boredom produces the same outcome. In her research, Prof. Karolien Poels, communication scientist, studies which type of boredom is linked to which type of smartphone use.

Meet Nova Academy

Under the slogan ‘Bringing learning to (your) life’, Nova Academy – a collaboration between UAntwerp, Ghent University and Vrije Universiteit Brussel – wishes to strengthen continuing education in Flanders. The joint platform brings together lectures and study days, postgraduate studies and over 200 micro-credentials, short programmes that focus on specific competences.

Summer Film College 2024

From July 7 to 13, Cinea once again organizes the Summer Film College in Antwerp! For seven days you will dive into two film historical themes, through fifteen lectures and about twenty film screenings. Filmmakers have thousands of secrets, the Summer Film College will teach you about them!

Studying costs money and unfortunately isn’t a given for everyone. Through the University of Antwerp Fund, you can help students in financial need to pay for their studies. If you make a donation of 40 euros or more, you will receive a tax certificate and you can recover 45% of your donation. Everyone wins!
