More than 30 participants, including students, professors, business representatives, those overseeing student practices, and climate change NGOs, joined hands to explore and enhance their commitment to sustainability.

TPR paper wins WMU JOMA best paper award

Dimitrios Georgoudakis, Theodore Syriopoulos & Christa Sys won the WMU Journal of Maritime Affairs Best Paper Award with their paper on 'Investment and Trading Strategies in the Maritime Sector: An Application to the Secondhand Containership Market'.

Ann Verhetsel retired

On 1 February, Ann Verhetsel retired from her academic career at University of Antwerp / Faculty of Business and Economics / TPR. We thank Ann very much for all these years of teaching, doing research, guiding PhD's, and being at the service of the University and the wider society!

TPR collaborated in supply chain education

In a groundbreaking collaboration, the University of Antwerp and the University of Pretoria have joined forces to delve into the dynamic supply chain management landscape. The students were encouraged to shake hands digitally and to find their own digital means to collaborate.

TPR hosted 4th Dennie Lockefeer Chair public lecture

On 18 January, the Dennie Lockefeer Chair hosted its 4th free-of-charge hybrid lecture 'Transport Mode Decisions in Intermodal Supply Chains: Issues and Solutions'. The lecture explored the challenges and opportunities of managing decision-making with regard to different transport modes in an intermodal supply chain context. Next, the industry panel addressed and discussed broader issues related to intermodality.

C-MAT maritime transport students enjoy excursions

As part of their Maritime Economics & Business course, C-MAT students enjoyed a series of excursions and guest lectures, next to the regular academic lectures of course. Visits were hosted at the Royal Belgian Shipowners Assocation (picture) and DEME.

C-MAT air students enjoy airport excursion

C-MAT air students just finished their Airline Management and Strategy course. Packed into our 2 weeks were insightful discussions and case studies into current airline issues. They were given deeper insight during excursions to ASL Group, Brussels Airlines, TUI and Brussels Airport Company.

TPR tested the NOVIMOVE Serious Game

The purpose of this game is to implement potential innovations, as researched by the NOVIMOVE - smart & sustainable waterways team, in a virtual reality environment and to assess their potential impact. These innovations include new vessel designs for low water conditions, a mobile modular terminal and intelligent systems for lock planning and route optimisation.

TPR participated to the Platina4project launch

The Platina4Action Project, a Horizon Europe-funded initiative, had its kick-off meeting on January 18, 2024, in Brussels. Platina4Action is set to spearhead innovation and environmental stewardship in the IWT sector. It is a significant step towards realizing zero-emission, intelligent, and sustainable inland navigation. 

TPR participated to GREEN-LOG General Assembly

The Horizon Europe project GREEN-LOG held its three-day General Assembly hosted by partner the University of Wolverhampton. Apart from presenting the progress of the tasks and activities of the project, the agenda included specific technical workshops and interactive sessions.

New TPR postdoc researcher: Julia Amaral

Julia Amaral started working as a postdoc researcher at TPR. Julia before worked at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as assistant and researcher. At TPR, she will work on projects dealing with urban logistics and mobility.

New TPR postdoc researcher: Jeroen Cant

Jeroen Cant started working as a postdoc researcher at TPR. Jeroen got his PhD at TPR in 2019. In between, he worked at UAntwerp's Faculty of Design Sciences.  At TPR, he will work on projects dealing with urban mobility.

TPR joined TRB 2024 Conference

Roel Gevaers and Felipe Bedoya-Maya joined the Transportation Research Board Conference in Washington 8-11 January 2024.
