On 22 April 4pm CET, Prof. Simon Véronneau (Naval Postgraduate School Monterey, and Master alumnus of University of Antwerp) will hold a public lecture on 'Current and future trends in logistics'. This lecture can be followed on campus in Antwerp, or online. Registration is required before 17 March, in order to receive access details.

90 enthusiastic Maritime and Port Economics students enjoyed an unforgettable day excursion. Our destination? A fascinating exploration of key maritime hubs and facilities that play a crucial role in our understanding of the industry, at Zeebruges, Flushing and Antwerp.

Special issue journal Future Transportation

Transport and logistics currently feature a lot of challenges and changes. The latter concern both the demand and supply side. On the demand side, new shopping and ordering habits have emerged, with the surge of e-commerce, stimulated also by the COVID-19 pandemic, being the main phenomenon. On the supply side, innovation is implemented in the form of automation and digitalization, and the uptake of new types of transport connections. Contributions are invited that tackle solutions to one or multiple of the above issues, and that provide analyses on the economic feasibility of the proposed solutions.

TPR students visit DP World Antwerp Gateway

The students of FBE's Maritime Technology course had an insightful visit to DP World. They were given a tour of the terminal, with a focus on optimization and digitalization initiatives. A big thank you to DP World for hosting this visit.

Pharma Logistics Masterclass invites poster abstracts

C-MAT students enjoyed Rotterdam week

From 25 to 29 March,, C-MAT students enjoyed a week stay in Rotterdam. Maritime students visited Rotterdam port with a bike and boat tour. Air students did visits to Schiphol airport and KLM. Both groups paid a visit also to Delft University of Technology, for lectures and lab visits.

Elena Prozorova calls on companies for dry ice testing

Elena Prozorova, a PhD researcher at TPR, is seeking companies interested in participating in comprehensive case studies on dry ice in the logistics sector.

PhD alumna Yasmine Rashed had a guest stay at TPR

From 11 to 15 March 2024, FBE PhD alumna Yasmine Rashed, currently professor at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, paid a visiting stay at TPR. She gave lectures on 'port traffic forecasting' and 'maritime resilience', and had talks with various TPR PhD students.

Guest lecture Prof. Seckin Ozkul

On 4 March, Prof. Seckin Ozkul from University of South Florida Muma College of Business, gave a guest lecture for FBE Bachelor thesis students, on the topic of 'Green Horizons: Shaping the Next Generation of Supply Chains'.

Roel Gevaers appointed TRB Committee Secretary

Roel Gevaers was appointed Secretary of the Standing Committee on Freight Transportation Economics and Regulation of the Transportation Research Board (TRB).

Joris Beckers member of PhD jury Saied Fallah Niasar

On 14 March, Joris Beckers was a member of the PhD jury of Saied Fallah Niasar, who successfully defended his thesis on school bus rooting problems.

TPR actively contributed to the PortTech Summit 2024

TPR actively contributed to the PortTech Summit 2024, the closing event of its Smart Port project. Valentin Carlan presented on the results of one of the pilots examined during the project, with pilotage at the port of Antwerp.
