Emeritate celebration prof. dr. Walter Weyns

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the Emeritus Prof Walter Weyns' celebration. After a rich career at the University of Antwerp, this ‘free spirit’ takes leave of his formal academic assignment. A special occasion therefore that we would like to celebrate with you.

On Monday 18 November, the retirement celebration will take place from 18h in the Rector Dhanis Auditorium. Walter Weyns will develop ‘A plea for an anecdotal sociology’ on that occasion, framed by a musical ensemble around Eric Thielemans and some surprising contributions from colleagues and friends. We will conclude with a reception where there will be ample opportunity to congratulate Walter personally and reminisce.

BROOKE SIMPSON (US) is a powerhouse vocalist with a passion for music, people and culture. Brooke is a full-blooded Indian and a member of the Haliwa-Saponi tribe.

Brooke will talk about her culture and how this made her who she is today, as a person and as an artist.
